Father Nabil Mouannas — "Veni, Sancte Spiritus"
I am happy and excited to be the new Pastor for Our Lady of Labonon parish.
Where I come from
I was born on February 11, 1958 on the feast day of the Lady of Lourdes, in Chbanieh, Lebanon, a small village in the mountains. My parents are Badih Mouannes and Rosette Raad and I am the oldest of 6 children.
My history as a priest
All my studies in philosophy and theology were completed at The Holy Spirit University of Kaslik, a private Catholic university, in Mount Lebanon, founded in 1938 by the Lebanese Maronite Order. This is where I was ordained into the priesthood on September 16, 1984 during the Lebanese civil war with bombing in the background. In 1986, I was sent to France to finish my PhD at Sorbonne University. There I celebrated my first by-ritual service. In 1992 I came to the United States to work for the Maronite Catholic Eparchy of Our Lady of Lebanon. Between 1992 and 2013, God used me to initiate and establish Maronite communities and help build their churches in San Diego, Phoenix, Stockton, Denver, Las Vegas and Sacramento. I have served as a member of the Eparchial Presbyteral Council and Eparchial Pro Life Office, Chaplain for Catholic Answers for 4 years and 2 years for Immaculate Heart Radio.
My favorite book
After the Catholic Bible my favorite book is Catechism of the Catholic Church.
Smile, and the whole world will smile with you.
